JaniumBI is a Big Data platform that Janium provides to its customers as a complement to Janium, JaniumNet, JaniumLink and Enki products.

JaniumBI automatically indexes relevant information from the database for reporting and automated delivery of statistical data. Dynamically generated graphics may be embedded in websites to favor the display of information related to the research activity within the institution.

The tool indexes information from the catalog in a Janium system at a MARC tag and subfield level to manage customized reports.

As an example of this functionality, the Mondragon Unibertsitatea uses a set of reports to obtain statistics and automated reports regarding its scientific publications and lines of research.

Retrieval of information stored in tags 199, 260, 590, 653, 700, and 711 related to Subject, Author, Publication date, Course, Document type, Sources, and Impact index for report generation.

JaniumBI automatically gathers and index the information on a daily basis. Enables users to display not only information pertaining to scientific publications, but publication trends and statistics related to technical documents in a period and simplifies analysis of published work.

Some examples of the reports are:

  • Publications by library and line of research
  • Publications by line of research and quarter
  • Published documents by quarter
  • International publications by line of research and course
  • Publications by indexing source
  • Scientific publications by indexing source and quarter of impact

As mentioned before, JaniumBI drills the information as far as the MARC tag and subfield level, particularly useful for lines of research, by simplifying data recovery even if the data appears in the same MARC tag and subfield.

For example, MARC tag 653 subfield $a, stores data for research groups or academic term in which the publication became active. Using the selective export of data, JaniumBI can differentiate between the two values.

JaniumBI goes beyond the lines of research and scientific publications to provide data analysis of any information stored in a Library or Archive and provides a Big Data platform for custom reporting.
